One of my favorite actors is Oscar winner
Al Pacino.
I am spellbound by his high voltage rhetoric in many of
the movies like Scent of a woman, Glengory Glen Ross,
Any Given Sunday or the subject matter of this blog,
"Devil's Advocate".
In “Devil’s Advocate",
Mr.Pacino depicts the character of the satan or evil.
In one scene he talks about God. It goes like this,
“God..., likes to watch. He's a prankster.
He gives man…instincts.
He gives you this extraordinary gift,
and then, what does He do?
For his own amusement,
For his own private
cosmic gag real;
...He sets the rules in opposition.
It's the goof of all time!
Look,
but don't touch?!
Touch,
but don't taste?!
Taste,
but don't swallow?!
And when you are jumping from one foot to the next,
what does he do?
He is laughing his sick f.....ing a.. off!
He is a t....a....!
He is a sadist.
He is an absentee landlord!
Worship that?
....Never!”
Some high voltage stuff, there!
Hard to digest, yes?
But think about it, for a minute.
Who is ruling the earth? The Satan or God?, I would say
most of the time, the Satan!
The Satan in that scene was talking about the
contradiction between our instincts
and the rules of society.
The Satan Claims there,
I have nurtured every sensation man is inspired to have!
I cared about what he wanted and never judged him. Inspite of
all his imperfections, I am a fan of man!
Who, in their right mind, would argue, the 20th century was entirely mine? All of it, it is mine
Can you argue that.
Scene 1:
Some idiot neandarthal cowards come from Pakistan and kill so many people.
What we do? we are still talking even after 2 months!?
Scene 2:
The owner of Satyam Computers destroys lives of million people,
in one shot.
We don't have the weapons to punish him.
Who can argue that the whole world is ruled not by God, but by Satan?
Or at least, for the time being, Satan has the upper hand!
Majority of us want to do certain things
which the society considers taboo.
I have got my share of satan and God in me.
It is the conflict between short term evil and long term good.
But it is hell being good sometimes,
because I have to go against my instincts.
The good says sleep less, evil says sleep more!
The good says work hard, the evil says goof off!
The good says be faithful, the evil says that isn’t a big deal!
It is an eternal conflict.
God says give, satan says take!
Having said that, on any given day,
Giving is good and taking is rotten!
Giving makes you feel very good and taking makes you very small in your own eyes.
But to give with abundance, you should have it first.
To have it, you must pay the price!
Paying the price is to be focused while doing what you are doing, till you reach it.
And
Rejecting the temptations.
Working hard and making it happen is the price.
And the rewards?
You can go on giving for the rest of your life!
Giving is divine;
Taking is hell!
Once you have the luxury of giving with gay abandon,
you are taking the place of God, to so many.
In one other scene in that movie,
The satan says,”Life is a bitch”.
I say “Yes” to that statement sometimes.
“No” majority of the time.
Because life is, most of the time, patient,
forbearing, forgiving, forgetting.
It is like your good wife!
You can make mistakes, commit sin, reach out too far and fall on your face, fail after fail, fall after fall, make a fool of
yourself, test the patience of a dead man.
Bur Life forgives.
Provided;
You can get up, dust off and ready to fight!
Because if you get up every time you fall,
failure fails and success succeeds. Period.
For that to happen, you have to defeat the satan inside you.
How you defeat the satan?
By promising him the sky and make him wait.
And go on your way to achieve anything in life, without the demons bothering you.
And when you have fulfilled your dreams,
you can entertain him or reject him.
You have that luxury then, not before.
As far as I am concerned. I will be there at the top.
And when I am there, I will give in!
Why?
Guilt is like a bag of bricks. All you have to do is, set it down.
I want to set it down, because I am
carrying it for too long.
That is the promise to my satan.
If he is listening, that is!

One of the biggest destroyers of Network Marketing organizations is "Inconsistency", and it happens ALL the time.To quote the song Hot & Cold by Katy Perry..."You're hot then you're cold, you're yes then you're no, you're in then you're out, you're up then you're down. You're wrong then it's right. It's black and it's white. We fight we break up. We kiss we make up"And it's KILLING your business!Let me give you a few real life examples:- I have one leader in a city, who started building an organization 6 months ago, with some nice early results, and then disappeared for 3 months to play sports on our meeting days. When he resurfaced, he said "Wow, where is my team? No one is still working the business!". That's an obvious and extreme example. Here is another.- I have another leader who would go in tiny bursts. He would build hard for one week and then disappear the next and then work hard for another week and disappear for the next 2 weeks. His group was always asking "Have you heard from him"? His people would join, get started, lose trust based upon his erratic behavior, and fade away. So when he says to me "Where is the duplication in my group?" I answer, "You killed it".- I could give you a few thousand other example, but I'm sure you get the point.People are joining YOU every bit as much as they are joining MVT. If you are inconsistent, doubt will set in almost immediately and if that happens, it won't be long before they fade away, leaving you to fade away yourself or rebuild. If I were to coach you personally (and I guess I am), I would say this...1. Please decide right now how much physical time you will consistently commit to your business this year and stick with it. If it's at least 15 hours a week, make sure it's at least 15 hours EVERY week. If it's 10, then make it 10 EVERY week.2. Please decide right now how much emotional time you will consistently commit to your business this year and stick with it. By emotional time, I'm talking about you staying in regular communication with your people every week (and NOT email blasts or conference calls, for crying out loud). Regardless of the size or your organization, you will find that you'll spend personal time with a max of about 30 people. Make sure that, no matter what, you will personally talk with everyone in that group every week without fail.3. Please decide right now how YOU are going to show up to your organization. What I mean by that is, YOU need to be consistent with your attitude. You need to build people up. You need to be the one overcoming adversity, not spreading it around. You need to be the leader. If you have a bad day, DEAL WITH IT personally, not with your group. We build trust and we transfer belief. That's true with prospects and it's true with your organization. Consistency is vital if you want to build and maintain trust. This discipline is a BIG part of my business plan for 2009 (I need to get much better in order to grow a bigger business) and I hope it will become a big part of yours. If you've been inconsistent and you're in rebuild mode, please be smart about it. Learn from your experiences and create a better plan moving forward. You can do it.
